Fruit Parfait: Chapter 1.5

I woke up Saturday morning to the sound of a spoon scraping against a bowl; Dub was cooking in the kitchen.

In the middle of the room, Charlotte played with the son I had only two days ago discovered I had. It was nice to wake up to food and laughter instead of a blaring horn outside my house for once.

I took a long, hot shower to wash off all the traces of dirt and grime that had collected over the course of the week. Being a firefighter was no clean job.

Dub and Charlotte had already eaten, presumably a fair distance away from each other, by the time I got out. A plate of waffles had been left on the table for me, and I enjoyed a nice, large meal by myself.

When I got up to go wash my dishes, I nearly ran into Dub.

"Hey, Zane... Why don't you go hang around town today? I mean, you've been working all week and you kinda deserve a break..."

"Uhhh... I kinda have to be here for when the new counter gets here," I said awkwardly, motioning to the soiled counter next to us.

"No, no, I'll stay here for that - you go out and have fun. Bring Charlotte with you, too, because she needs to get out of the house."

"But Bennett-"

"I'll watch Bennett," Dub said reassuringly.

It was completely out of the blue and slightly strange, but I wasn't going to turn down a fun day out on the town. "Um... Okay..."

I went over to talk to Charlotte, who became immediately suspicious.

"Dub? Watching Bennett? ...I don't know, Zane."

I shrugged. "I think we're going to have to learn to trust him eventually, Charlotte. This could be a good thing."

Charlotte sighed, avoiding my eyes...and then smiled. "All right."

I grinned. "Where to first?"

There was a little pond near the house that we had never been to. Charlotte figured that we could enjoy ourselves there knowing that our son was just up the road. We found some fishing rods laying around the wooden deck near the water and decided to try our hands at fishing, even though neither of us had ever attempted it before.

Charlotte was lucky enough to catch a tiny fish, whereas I left the pond empty-handed.

We stopped for some drinks at the bar on the deck, mixing together packets of artificial drink ingredients, water, and some alcohol that was shockingly found in the bar's supply. I wasn't sure what was more surprising - that a public park had tequila laying around, or that a bunch of wild teenagers hadn't ransacked it already. I know that's what I would have done.

We somehow ended up playing a partially intense and partially silly game of chess. Neither of us really knew how to play, but we had agreed hours ago that today was a day for trying new things.

Sexy concentration.

Charlotte won the game (much to my dismay, as thus far I had been getting shown up by a girl at just about everything), and as a reward demanded that I play a song on guitar for her. There was a crappy acoustic guitar conveniently present on the deck, and I picked it up and started strumming chords to improvise a goofy song as I played. It got us both laughing in the end.

Charlotte had this look on her face that I hadn't seen in a long time - almost like the way she used to look at me back in high school, but not quite. It was strange... The line between friendship and romance was blurring. For her, at least; I was still quite sure that I wanted to be single and free to hook up with girls with no strings attached. Sure, I was a father now, but that didn't mean I was going to immediately elope with the girl and ruin all the fun of being young.

Charlotte stepped closer to me. "Zane... I just need to know... Do you forgive me for what I did? For...cheating on you?" Shame clouded her eyes.

I found myself forcing a smile. "Charlotte, don't beat yourself up too much over it. I've forgiven you."

Wait...what? What did I just say? Oh, crap. Oh, no. I was leading her on now, wasn't I? No, no, I couldn't do this, I didn't like her... Did I like her? Or was it just the alcohol getting to my head? I couldn't think straight. I didn't even realize I was drunk until now.

"Good." Suddenly, Charlotte's face twisted. "Oh God, I have to throw up."

Charlotte bolted for the bathrooms while I contemplated the idiotic words that had just come pouring out of my mouth. I wanted to forgive her, but I knew that I shouldn't. Not after cheating on me. Even if Bennett was my son, she still slept with my best friend. And I still did not want to settle down with someone.

I met her outside the bathrooms a few minutes later. "Hey Charlotte, I was wondering if you wanted to maybe head to the club?"

Yes, the club. The club could get my mind off of things. I could hook up with some random girl and forget about all my troubled thoughts. That was what I wanted, right? To forget?

"Um, actually I was hoping we could head back to your house. I have a horrible headache and I kinda just want to sleep right now..."

I blinked. "That's all right, I guess... Charlotte, when was the last time you drank?"

Charlotte blushed. "Two... Maybe three years ago. It's been awhile. I didn't get my hands on any alcohol when I had to spend every waking minute with Bennett."

I nodded; that made sense. She looked ready to pass out at any minute.

When we got home, we saw Dub talking on his cell inside. We slipped inside quietly; Dub didn't notice us enter.

Charlotte and I shot each other a suspicious look as we listened in.

"...waited almost twelve hours for you to show up here and help me get the kid! You dragged me along on all your stupid robberies back in Riverview, and I went along with it and didn't complain, and now when I ask you to do this one tiny favor for me, you don't even bother to show up! No, don't make excuses. When we talked yesterday, you said you'd do this for me. You said you'd come pick us up and drive us to your apartment in Bridgeport and let us hide there. You said you'd help me, you stupid little-"

"Dub?" Charlotte whispered.

Dub turned around with a shocked face, the phone still pressed to his ear. "Let me call you back."

"You have ten seconds to get out of my house."

"Zane, I can explain."

"Can you really?" I hissed, wondering how he'd get out of this one.

"Please, just hear me-"

"NO!" I roared. "I'm sick of hearing you out and buying your stupid lies and excuses for everything! Bennett is not your son, and you are not my friend! Now get out of my freaking house."

I watched over my shoulder as Dub stormed out of my house, his head in his hands, and I knew I wouldn't miss him one bit. I'd also be locking every window and door from now on.

I turned back to little Benny, who was sobbing on the floor.

I picked him up in my arms and hugged him close to me, my eyes tearing up at the feel of his little head on my shoulder. "It's all right, Daddy's got you. I'll never let anyone hurt you. I promise."

~

Told you Dub was up to no good.

This was just a short chapter. I literally crammed photography, writing, and editing into about an hour today, whereas I normally spread it out across two days. My creative juices weren't flowing as much as they usually are, which is why this chapter wasn't as good as the others were, but I promised myself I would get out a chapter of Fruit before school starts. My first day is tomorrow, and I've had freshmen orientations and schedule pick-ups and appointments and a haircut and everything else all just stacking up. But I promised myself, and here it is.

To be honest, my liking for Sims is kind of fading. I go through phases of loving it, and right now I'm not in one of those. Maybe it's because my game is lagging yet again and I have no clue how to fix it, maybe it's because I haven't had anything new in my game for awhile, maybe it's because my interests have shifted and I have instead become a total music junkie. (I've been listening to music a lot and I've got a mile-long list of favorite bands, I taught myself electric guitar over the past two weeks, and I've been playing Rock Band a lot. :P) I suppose that's sort of good, because it means I won't have to suffer from Sims deprivation when I go back to school. Hopefully Supernatural and Seasons spark a new phase of Sims love.

Anyways, here begins another short hiatus during which I shall get adjusted to my new school and the homework load, and then I will return to post again. I'll estimate anywhere from a week to a month for this hiatus, so please bear with me and be patient once again. Thank you all for being such wonderful, supportive readers - you're the reason I do this. :)

See you soon!

My Return!

I have returned from my vacation to California, and I'm here to share with you a little about what I did! I've actually been back for a few days now, but I haven't had time to post until now since I spent two full days hanging out with some family friends - but I'll get to that later. Anyways, enjoy this extremely long blog post!

At the beginning of our trip, we had to cross the Mexican border for a few minutes to get some paperwork done (long story), but don't worry - everything was fine! I wasn't particularly worried, but all my friends were paranoid that we were going to get caught up in something. In New Mexico, we went to the White Sands Monument and the Gila Cliff Dwellings (one of the places where the cavepeople lived a long time ago). We went sledding at White Sands (although it didn't work too well because the dunes weren't steep enough) and we got to see some cave art at the cliff dwellings. I got yelled at by my parents since I was freaking out over all the bees and wasps there (I've had an extreme, irrational fear of bees ever since I got stung when I was seven - it's bad enough to make me get up and run if one comes near me), and I decided that I had to get over that fear since I didn't want to live the rest of my life looking like an idiot. I'll get back to that later. In Arizona, we went to Sedona (which was absolutely beautiful, although Sliderock Park was closed because it had been raining so we went there on the way back) and Montezuma Castle (another ancient home of cavepeople). Then we drove all the way to Anaheim, where we stayed at a super fancy hotel right by Disneyland! We went to Disneyland the next day (the original park), and it was super awesome. My brother has finally gotten (somewhat) over his fear of rollercoasters, so I got him to go on Big Thunder Mountain and Matterhorn and Indiana Jones and stuff. We stayed to watch the fireworks and got ice cream, and the next day we drove down to my old home of Santa Monica, a little city just off of LA. In the time that we stayed there, I had two sleepovers, went to the beach twice (once with my best friend and once with a large group), went shopping at the Promenade, and went out to dinner at a Mediterranean place called Cha Cha Chicken. It was awesome. We went to Disneyland one more thing (this time to the California Adventure park) and I got to go on California Screamin' (alone :( ), drag my brother onto the Tower of Terror, Grizzly River Rapids, Goofy's Flight School, Soarin' Over California, and a bunch of other fun rides. Oh yeah, and we made it through the huge line for the Carsland ride. :D Then we headed back home and stopped again in Sedona to go to the Sliderock Park (which is basically a natural waterslide, since the rocks in the river are so smooth and slippery that you just slide down them) and then we went to an alien museum in Roswell. And now I'm back home!

So, where have I been for the past couple days instead of talking to my wonderful followers who have so patiently awaited my return? :) Well, I've been hanging out with some family friends - and having the time of my life, might I add! My brother's in Cub Scouts, you see (pre-Boy Scouts, for those who don't know), and he met his friend Aaron there. Now they're totally best friends, and our parents are best friends, and I'm best friends with his two older brothers (Jeffrey's my age and the Alec's a year younger), and we all just get along. They're like the second half of my family, and we've only known them for like...a year. I only just met Jeffrey and Alec a couple months ago, and the three of us have only spent 4 full days together in total this summer, but they're like the brothers I never had. (My brother, Adam, hardly ever talks around me and the rest of my family unless it's about Minecraft. It's nice to be able to have an actual conversation with these guys.) Anyways, we went to a really huge waterpark near our city two days ago and spent the entire day there. Aaron and Adam went off with our mothers while me and the guys went off and did our thing. It was fun finally getting to go on all the giant waterslides with somebody, since I come from a family of wimps (excluding myself) and we had a blast. Jeffrey and Alec are totally crazy, and I can undoubtedly say they are the craziest people I have ever met. Actually, that only applies to Jeffrey. Alec is relatively normal in comparison, although still crazy compared to my other guy friends. But I don't mind, because I'm weird as well. :) Jeffrey now has the same sort of extreme fear of bees that I used to have (he got stung the second day we met; we were camping with our little bros for Cub Scouts), and he was running around screaming like a girl while I was just sitting there like a normal person. My mom approved. :) Yesterday they were staying at this huge resort in another city near where we live, since they have this thing called a timeshare that lets them stay in a fancy resort for a week once a year. My brother stayed there overnight, since it was Aaron's birthday and they had a little party between the two of them over at the hotel. My mom and I drove down there yesterday to hang out, and ohhhhh man. I could live there. The size of that hotel room was larger than the places most of my friends in Santa Monica lived in. There was a lazy river, the largest pool I have ever seen, 4 different hot tubs, 2 water slides, a sauna, and a steam room (apparently they're different things!). I basically spent the whole day with Alec, because Jeffrey was off harassing our little brothers. xD We went swimming, ran a mile on the treadmills, laid on the couch watching television (30 Rock, Two and a Half Men, Awkward, various shows on Food Network, and even a bit of that show with Snooki on it just to make fun of her lack of intelligence - finally, someone who likes the same shows as me!), and we talked for like...two hours out on his deck. Alec's so nice and we have a lot in common (cats, music, baking, and tastes in music, TV, and movies, just to name a few), and it's pretty obvious he has a crush on me. I learned my lesson about dating guys I hardly know, though, but he did earn quite a bit of my trust yesterday by not taking advantage of being alone with me in a hotel room for several hours. Who knows, maybe we'll end up together one day... Only time will tell.

Anyways, I've got work to do. I'm definitely going to get out another chapter of Fruit before school starts, since I know I'll have to take another hiatus while I get adjusted to my new school. I also have to compile a CC list for Sunny and Drew for Chocolatte, who wants to download them and use them in a story of hers (which I am incredibly flattered by). I want to get something out with Fabio, too, although I've hardly been playing him and he still doesn't have a wife. Those three things will be my goals - let's hope I get them accomplished before back to school!

It's good to be back. :)

Pics of My Simself and Her Fictional Husband / Short Hiatus

This will be my last update for awhile, as I'm leaving for a road trip to California on Saturday! I'm very excited, but I'm sorry to have to leave you guys. I'll be gone for a week or two, and I'm sorry but there will be a great delay on the next chapter of Fruit Parfait. I was hoping to get it out this week, but as it turned out I had appointments one after the other that my mom forgot to mention to me. Sorry about that, everyone. Anywho, please enjoy this little photoshoot with my simself and my fictional perfect husband. :P

I think they make a good couple. :3 Heehee...

I named my simself Sarah Morria, since my parents came very close to naming me Sarah but then eventually decided to name me Erin since it's less common. I didn't use my real name, since I would get all superstitious if a meteor hit my simself or something. :P Morria is my go-to last name for simselves, and I've used it on the other two I created. Sadly, though, I don't have pics of either of them for comparison. This one is most definitely the closest to what I look like in real life, though, and I promised myself to not glorify my face since I wanted it to look realistic. Then I decided to go mega-realistic and recreate clothes in my wardrobe for my simself... Haha. Anyways, her traits are Virtuoso, Artistic, Hopeless Romantic, Ambitious, and Perfectionist, her LTW is Professional Author, her favorites are Pop, Stir-Fry, and Purple (although I really wish they would make a general Rock category for music, since I listen to much more of that kind of music), and she's a Gemini.

Every night, I dream about this fictional guy with wavy blond hair and blue-green eyes. He pops up in every single dream. (Last night I had a dream that I was on a plane that crash-landed in Antarctica. Guess who was on the plane with me?) So, I decided to create him as a sim, since apparently he's the guy of my dreams. I named him Justin, since I love Justin James Hughes (a Youtuber). Ha, you thought I was going to say Justin Bieber, weren't you? :P No. Just...no. Then I decided to give him the last name of Hemsworth and make him an imaginary brother of Liam and Chris Hemsworth (even though he looks nothing like either of his "brothers", and I never tried to make him look like them). The story is he ran away to Hidden Springs, where no one knew who he was, since he didn't want to go into acting like his siblings. His traits are Brave, Good Sense of Humor, Adventurous, Disciplined, and Charismatic, his LTW is Martial Arts Master, his favorites are Pop, Key Lime Pie, and Red, and he's an Aquarius.

So I will undoubtedly be posting updates on these two simmies, from their days of being "roommates" to their definite marriage and children. Those will come much later, though, because I need to put out a new chapter of Fruit Parfait after I get back from vacation, and Fabio needs to get a move on with his baby-making. For now, though, I have to say goodbye. I'll be back soon, but until then, enjoy your summer!

So I Threw Veronica a Bachelorette Party...

...and I took pictures. Lots of them. Believe it or not, this is the first time I have ever thrown a bachelorette/bachelor party for any of my sims. As I said in my last Vero & Hikaru update, my sims don't get engaged/married very often. Luckily, Veronica and Hikaru have proved to be a very interesting couple and I'm definitely sticking with them. Plus I tested out their genetics in CAS, and their children were terribly adorable. Without further ado, here begins a short-story-type-thing recounting the events of the night.

~

The balloons were out, the confetti machine was running, and the red lights were on when Veronica's friends Madeline Meinke and Ashlynn Murphy (two townies she met around Dragon Falls) arrived. It was time to get the party started.

Along with Ashlynn came a fairly attractive, ridiculously buff dancer who was checking Veronica out.

Veronica didn't really mind getting checked out by a shirtless guy, though.

She had to admit, she was a fan of his moves. She got a little too enthusiastic.

When Ashlynn walked over, Veronica felt a sudden urge to...

...spray her with champagne! Or "nectar", as EA likes to call it.

Ashlynn wasn't too upset about getting sprayed in the face.

Veronica had a drink at the portable bar she rented for the night.

"Better slow down there, Vero," Madeline said.

She was perfectly fine, though. She only had two.

The dancer was starting to look like hookup material, though...

Snap out of it, Veronica, and keep drinking until you clear your head. (Ha, like that's going to help.)

Then the dancer started checking out Ashlynn, and Veronica got over him pretty quickly. She didn't like players.

But players appeared to like Ashlynn.

"Kiss him? Are you kidding me? No way!" Ashlynn whispered.

"Awww, come on, Ash! Do it for me!"

"I... Fine."

Success.

Veronica watched them like a creeper from a distance.

"Whaaaat? If I can't kiss him, I might as well stare at my friend doing it and live vicariously."

Vero ate some of her home-cooked sushi to try and sober up.

But then Madeline started drinking...

Veronica was slightly worried about her friend...

She didn't look drunk enough!

"Awww, no, there's a hole in my hat!"

Ashlynn started drinking as well - probably trying to forget about kissing the half-naked dancer.

"Hahaha... HEADBUTT!"

"Okay, Veronica..."

"Everybody, stop what you're doing! I have to make a toast...to my friend Veronica!"

"I wrote you a poem just now."

"Awesomesauce!"

"And it goes like this... Vero, Vero, you're like Jack Sparrow. You're crazy and awesome and cool like a pharaoh. I know this is not the best poem in the world, and we all know your hair is not naturally curled, but on this day I want you to know - married or not, girl you go!"

"And now..."

"No, no, Madeline, this is my nice dress!"

"Ahaha wooo!"

"Heheheh. The world is spinning."

It only took a few more drinks before Ashlynn and Madeline were passed out on the floor.

Veronica, however, could still manage to drag herself over to the couch and think up a smooth pickup line. (The dancer was looking hot again.)

"Hey you... I like yer faceeeeee."

"This girl's weird."

"Arg."

The dancer left and Veronica passed out on the couch soon after. When she woke up, Madeline and Ashlynn were gone, the house was trashed, and she had a massive headache.

Luckily, her soon-to-be hubby was there to make everything better. <3

~

Best. Party. Ever. :D And that last pic just makes me smile every time I see it... Strategic placing of the couch, window, and sparkles machine made it turn out just right. <3

Coming soon is the next chapter of Fruit Parfait, as well as a photoshoot with my newly created (and highly realistic) simself and her future boyfriend (currently a "roommate"). I've been really busy lately with various shopping trips (and not the fun kind), a camping trip, and house renovations going on all week, so I haven't gotten much simming time in lately. Luckily, I have free time right now so I can work on getting Zane's world caught up to the right day! So long for now, and happy simming. :)
